Meet Dan Hunt, Managing Director, Europe from Basel, Switzerland. Dan brings decades of branding experience, reinforcing Leaderboard Branding’s commitment to providing best-in-class global naming and branding services. 

Get to know a little bit more about Dan! 

Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family: 

Originally from the North-East of England, I moved to Switzerland nearly 15 years ago. I live in Basel with my wife Christelle, and we have two wonderful daughters. When I’m not with them I’m completing my master’s degree in marketing. 

What made you get into the pharmaceutical branding space? 

After gaining some financial qualifications from the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments I fancied a change and moved into the healthcare/pharmaceutical space in Basel. Working for consultancies gave me a lot of access to different function groups and therapeutic areas, with each project a new and interesting challenge. Nearly ten years ago I became focused on the branding space and have since worked on hundreds of global brand development projects for the leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies. It’s not just the big players I’m supporting, I’ve spent the last couple of years working as a mentor for the Swiss innovation office supporting start-ups with all things branding, marketing, and comms related.   

After many years in global pharmaceutical/biotech naming and branding, why do you enjoy this type of work? 

I was initially drawn to the pharma/biotech branding space because no two days are the same. We're working at the cutting edge of technology and science, so each project is filled with passionate, engaged teams looking to make a real change in the lives of others. From helping recruitment in clinical trials to positioning assets to support patients as best they can it's a fulfilling role. This was especially realized when naming the first vaccine for RSV in infants. After my daughter Rosalie was in the hospital with RSV as a baby, to see the first vaccine come to market and save lives, even to play such a small part in getting name approval was really important to me. 

A little bit more info about Dan: 

Before Leaderboard, Dan held vital leadership roles from biotech startups to some of the largest pharmaceutical companies globally where he was responsible for early-stage product creation and development, delivering integrated communications to support cultural sensitivities and regions, and implementing key strategies for regulatory body submissions and approvals, to name a few.
